long weekend luxuries

Hi friends,

I hope you had a fabulous long weekend! Memorial day always feels like the start of summer to me, and I welcome smell of BBQ in the air and warm summer nights.

Sadly my fiancé had to work most of the weekend, but I was able to get a lot of wedding preparations done (but still so many “projects” to do!), hang out with some friends (congrats on the engagements!), head to the LA flower market, and I tried this amazing recipe for avocado and cilantro pasta. I know, avocado cilantro pasta  sounds crazy, but it was delicious and I plan to make it a summer staple.

Most importantly, perhaps, my  fiancé and I got to relax a little bit amid the fun and craziness that has been the last couple of weeks and will be the weeks to come. I find it easy to forget how lovely it is to just sit back and enjoy each other’s company, but it definitely refreshed me.

What were you up to this weekend? Do you have any summer plans that you’re looking forward to? I’d love to hear about them!

wedding wednesdays: table dressings and tea lights

Hi friends!

So last week it seemed that a lot of people like little lovelies as much as I do! So I thought I’d do another post since, let’s be honest, they’re still on my mind. I’m so inspired! I’d love to hear which one is your favorite or what little details made your day special.

All of these week’s images are from the wonderful site Green Wedding Shoes. Enjoy!

I love the peacock feather tucked in the napkin. The perfect splash of color.

I love these vintage touches! Such a creative way to display the table cards

These blue mason jars add the perfect pop of color to a neutral room

I love the playful crowns, but the true subject of this photo is the joy on their faces!

I’m totally crushing on succulents right now…

What can I say, I’m still obsessed with handmade pieces for the ceremony…

What a cute sign! It could also read, “We made it!”

I love these lights hanging from the trees. So dreamy.

Also, don’t forget about this Instagram photo contest – I can’t wait to see your photos and see who wins the Starbucks gift card!

primary petals [and fabulous feathers]

Hello friends! I know yesterday was Wedding Wednesday, but the wedding theme is going to spill into today a bit. I wanted to introduce you to the work of the very lovely and talented Samantha Santana, of Primary Petals. When I saw her work for the first time, I knew I wanted to her to do the flowers for our wedding. Personally, I think she is an artist whose medium is flowers and whose canvas is whatever your event is. Take a look at her work below – loving the feathers!

And I’m super excited to share with you that in the coming weeks, Samantha will talk to this little blog to share more about her background, her work, her inspiration, and how she creates such lovely arrangements!

typography + wooden signs

I live in a lovely little apartment, but lately I’ve really been wanting to redecorate or start from scratch. So I pour over design blogs and see all of these insanely beautiful apartments, lofts, homes, etc. Crazy thoughts run through my head like “I want a library ladder in my kitchen!” when I see images like this, or “I should use giant springs as stools!” when presented with this beauty. But let’s be real, while they are lovely to look at, these aren’t going to happen in the near future without remodeling and lots of disposible cash. And that’s okay!

So I’ve started to add little things and they really make such great additions to the home. For example, I bought this lovely silver tray and this amazing smelling candle in French Cade. But I’m starting to notice that the walls seem a little bare. Easily fixable via Etsy. Look at these great and creative typography prints (loving the gold frame) and chic wooden signs.

What is the one thing you’ve been wanting to do or add to your house/ apartment/ condo?
